|Origin:||Furuya-ishi. Wakayama prefecture, Japan.|
|Size:||5 1/4 x 3 1/3 x 2 3/4 inches, 13 x 9 x 7 cm (w x h x d)|
|Daiza:||Carved in Japan from hardwood - good workmanship and fits this uncut stone very well.|
The daiza has developed a pleasing dark colour through age and handling. There are two saw cuts in the foot on the front left, the reason for these is unknown and they appear to have been made when the daiza was carved.
||An antique suiseki, dating from the late 19th/early 20th century, with a wonderful patina to its
surface and in the form of a craggy mountain with a secondary peak to its left. Alternatively, the stone could be seen a turtle with its head out of the shell
and looking towards the left - the turtle is a popular theme in Japanese art and has a close association with longevity... maybe this stone will bestow that upon its owner !|
An ideal piece for those wishing to add an old stone to their collection.
