SCHOLAR FIGURE, BY IKKO

Origin: Japan.

Comments: A fine quality ceramic display figure, hand made in Japan by Ikko - a Tokoname based potter well known for his production of high quality bonsai pots.
This figure of a standing scholar, dressed in long robes with hands behind his back and head tilted slightly in a quiet, thoughtful gaze, makes for a perfect display accessory for use with bonsai or suiseki.
Sealed on the underside by Ikko.
Storage Box: A beautifully made kiri wood (Paulownia) box used to store and protect the figure when not in use. The box maker has put his small seal on the underside of the box (unread)
Written on the outside of the sliding lid is 'Koshizo' (Scholarly Gentleman figure). The inside of the lid is signed and sealed by Ikko.
The yellow furoshiki protective cloth has also been signed and sealed by Ikko.
